YMCA Heart of England was delighted to welcome representatives from YMCAs in India for a visit focused on sharing experiences, strengthening connections and celebrating our shared global mission.
The visit began with coffee and introductions at Eden Coffee Shop, providing an opportunity to get to know one another and learn more about the work taking place across YMCA communities in both the UK and India. Our guests were then given a tour of the building and an insight into the housing and support services we provide for local people.
During the visit, YMCA Heart of England shared a presentation about our work, our impact within the community and the challenges and opportunities facing the charity sector today. The discussion that followed highlighted the many ways YMCAs across the world are addressing local needs while remaining connected through common values of support, inclusion and community.
One of the most memorable moments of the day was taking a journey through YMCA Heart of England’s history. Looking through archive photographs dating back to the early twentieth century, visitors were able to see how the organisation has evolved over the decades while remaining committed to its core purpose of helping people belong, contribute and thrive.

The visit concluded with a shared lunch, offering further opportunities for conversation, reflection and the exchange of ideas.
As part of the worldwide YMCA movement, YMCA Heart of England values opportunities to learn from and collaborate with colleagues across the globe. We would like to thank our guests from India for visiting and for the inspiring discussions that took place throughout the day. We look forward to continuing these connections and exploring future opportunities to learn from one another.
