Grants & Fundraising Officer

Salary: £35,000                                    Hours per week: 35                            Contract: Permanent

Location: Birmingham office: 300 Reservoir Rd, Erdington, Birmingham, B23 6DF. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. Regular travel is required across Birmingham and Coventry between sites, as well as to external events and meetings.

With a turnover of over £7.5m, we provide safe housing for more than 350 young people, supporting them to rebuild their lives and move forward with confidence. We also care for pre-school children through our nursery provision and deliver targeted community programmes for young people and families across Birmingham, Coventry, and Warwickshire, engaging over 1,000 people each year.

Job role

We’re looking for a Grants and Fundraising Officer to help us generate income through securing grants, donations, and external funding. You’ll research opportunities, write funding bids, and build long-term relationships with trusts, foundations and other supporters.

You’ll work closely with the Director of Enterprise, Community and Youth and the Head of Communications, as well as other senior leaders where required, to align funding activity with YMCA Heart of England’s strategic priorities. This is a key role supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of our programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research and identify suitable grant and funding opportunities
  • Write clear, high-quality, persuasive funding applications and proposals
  • Build and manage a pipeline of applications to meet annual income targets
  • Lead and maintain strong relationships with new and existing funders
  • Work closely with colleagues to gather project and budget information for funding bids
  • Support the implementation and use of a CRM system to manage data and reporting
  • Monitor outcomes, track progress, and produce regular reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support fundraising events, donor communications and corporate partnerships
  • Manage reporting requirements and ensure compliance with funding conditions
