Birmingham, July 2025 — YMCA Heart of England had the privilege of hosting an exemplary delegation of scholars from YMCA India this month, signifying a notable event for international interaction, education, and cooperation. The visit commemorated the solid international connections within the YMCA movement, offering a distinctive chance to exchange knowledge, enhance collaborations, and foster cross-cultural understanding.
During a three-day period, delegations visited YMCA Heart of England sites in Northfield, Coventry, and Erdington, where they examined facilities, interacted with staff, and engaged directly with individuals in supported housing programs. The visit transcended a mere organisational tour; it was a collective expedition of knowledge, empathy, and inspiration that underscored the common goal of YMCAs globally.
Throughout their visit to the West Midlands, the Indian team gathered an extensive understanding of YMCA Heart of England’s varied projects, encompassing youth services, housing assistance, community wellbeing programs, and broader social impact efforts. These interactions facilitated open dialogue, knowledge dissemination, and a profound understanding of the challenges and achievements encountered by each YMCA within its respective community.
“You are making a real difference—transforming lives from hardship to hope,” one of delegates commented. “Your team’s dedication and passion shine through, and it’s clear that you were chosen to be a blessing not just to the YMCA, but to so many lives in need.”
The scholars were particularly inspired by the interaction opportunities and personal narratives exchanged during the projects. Rose, a visiting representative, reflected on:
“Our scholars found the visit incredibly informative and engaging. The insights gained will no doubt support their studies and future paths. We are grateful for the care, planning, and hospitality your team provided, making the experience truly special.”
In a sincere subsequent communication, Amulraj from Bombay YMCA replied:
“Thank you for your wonderful presentation—it gave me a clear understanding of the amazing work being done. We much appreciate the time you dedicated to us. You are always invited to visit the Bombay YMCA. My family and I would be happy to host you.”
This visit serves as an important reminder of the strength and solidarity of the YMCA movement. Grounded in common principles and a dedication to social impact, YMCAs globally persist in learning from each other and enhancing their combined capacity to serve communities. YMCA Heart of England is honoured to have welcomed the team and anticipates further developing this relationship with YMCA India, with prospective collaborative options currently under consideration.
