Mission, Vision & Values
We are not a church or a confessional community; that is, we don’t seek to proselytise or convert people as part of our normal activities.
We will, however, always acknowledge the Christian basis upon which we were founded, and this will be lived out in the work we do.
Our focus will, wherever possible, be on preventing problems rather than simply responding to the challenges that young people face, ensuring that we are fully embedded in the communities in which we work.
We will continue to support young people during times of need, with the goal of ensuring they see YMCA as a source of support. Not only in crisis, but also beyond it. Whenever possible, we aim to intervene early to prevent them from reaching a crisis point at all.
YMCA Heart of England exists primarily for the benefit of young people and communities.

Mission, Vision & Values
Our vision is of a youth-focused, robust, sustainable, high-profile, and credible Christian charity that, through its programmes, services, and facilities, intervenes to prevent young people from being excluded and helps them to truly belong, contribute, and thrive within society.
Our vision defines what YMCA Heart of England wishes to become over the lifetime of this strategic plan. It is aspirational but rooted in the reality of where we are now and the possibilities we see before us.
Whether we are moving towards or away from this vision provides the compass point against which we measure our direction of travel.
Our Mission is to inspire young people to discover their potential so that they can live life in all its fullness.
Our mission defines what YMCA Heart of England does and the purpose that it serves, and will guide our decision-making and direction over the next five years. What we do might change over the lifetime of the plan, but WHY we do it will remain a fixed point.
Our values are the things which underpin our actions; the beliefs that motivate us to do what we do. Integrity starts with matching our behaviours to the values we proclaim. What we do and how we behave, therefore, will ultimately demonstrate what we really believe in. We want to articulate those values that we will seek to live by so that others can judge us against them.
In addition, at YMCA Heart of England, we’re committed to five values that we will use to drive everything we do:
